Early Life and Career
Michael Keaton was born Michael John Douglas in 1951 in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania. He began his acting career in the early 1970s, appearing in small roles in films and television shows. He got his big break in 1982 when he was cast in the lead role in the sitcom Night Shift, which ran for two seasons. Keaton's breakthrough film role came in 1988, when he starred as the title character in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. The film was a critical and commercial success, and it helped to establish Keaton as a leading man in Hollywood.
Batman and Beyond
In 1989, Keaton was cast as Batman in Tim Burton's Batman. The film was a huge box office success, and it helped to revive the Batman franchise.
